Powering Pakistan’s Climate Future: Youth Leaders Kickstart LCOY 2025 Consultation

Today, the Native Youth Club for Climate Change (NYCCC) proudly hosted the National Youth Organization and Stakeholder Consultation Roundtable as part of the Road to LCOY Pakistan 2025, with active participation from national youth stakeholders and the Environmental Change Makers (ECM) team, led by their leadership.

The roundtable brought together a diverse group of climate actors, including M. Umair Mufakir, CEO of NYCCC and Country Contact Point for LCOY Pakistan, alongside committed climate advocates and experts such as Talha Tufail Butti, Aftab Alam, Sidra Riaz, Mahnoor Rashid, Jehangir Ashraf (UNDP), Moiz Butti, Dr. Zainab Aman, Momal Nawab, Zahid Khan, Roshni Hadi, Qamer Elahi, Rida Rashid, Wiqas Ali, Ahmad Yar, and Hania.

Together, we explored pressing climate-related challenges affecting Pakistan — from gendered climate impacts and health vulnerabilities, to the urgency of inclusive youth participation in climate governance, particularly in processes related to COP29 and LCOY.

The consultation provided a collaborative space where voices from across sectors contributed their insights on how we can shape a climate-resilient future for Pakistan. Key themes included climate adaptation, youth capacity building, intersectionality in policymaking, and representation of grassroots voices.

This roundtable marks the beginning of a nationwide consultation series, which will continue through online thematic sessions on climate finance, mitigation, adaptation, just transition, and more — ensuring youth voices remain central to the LCOY 2025 dialogue and beyond.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who joined us today and reaffirm our commitment to organizing more inclusive, impactful climate programs across Pakistan.
