Climate Education: Resilient Youth in Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan β€” 20 September 2026: The Native Youth Club for Climate Change (NYCCC) Gilgit-Baltistan, in collaboration with the Yasin Students Organisation (YSO) and Thoi Student Network, successfully organized a webinar on β€œClimate Education: Resilient Youth in Gilgit-Baltistan.”

 

The session featured Ms. Samreen Liaqat, Scientific Officer, Gilgit-Baltistan Environmental Protection Agency (GB-EPA), who shared valuable insights on climate change, glacier melt, water scarcity, GLOFs, floods, and environmental resilience in the region.

 

The discussion emphasized the importance of combining scientific and indigenous knowledge and highlighted the role of youth as climate advocates, first responders, and community change-makers.

 

Participants were encouraged to promote climate awareness, conserve water, protect the environment, learn from local communities, and adopt sustainable practices.

 

NYCCC appreciates the guest speaker, collaborating organizations, and all participants for their valuable engagement in advancing climate education and youth-led resilience in Gilgit-Baltistan.
