National Stakeholders’ Consultation – Islamabad

National Stakeholders’ Consultation – Islamabad
Development of National OSH Policy and Implementation Framework for Pakistan

Honoured to participate on behalf of the Native Youth Club for Climate Change (NYCCC) in the National Stakeholders’ Consultation – Islamabad: Development of National OSH Policy and Implementation Framework for Pakistan, organized by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (MOPHRD) in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO).

M. Umair Mufakir, CEO of NYCCC, represented the youth perspective and contributed recommendations on integrating meaningful youth participation and climate considerations into the national OSH framework, particularly in view of emerging occupational risks associated with climate change and the evolving nature of work.

The consultation brought together diverse stakeholders to review the draft National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Policy and Implementation Framework, discuss its vision, principles, strategic priorities, governance, social dialogue, OSH data systems, prevention, and workplace OSH management, and develop recommendations for effective implementation.

It was also a valuable opportunity to interact with and learn from key stakeholders, including:

  • Mr. Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry — Secretary, OPHRD
  • Mr. Majyd Aziz — President, EFP
  • Mr. M. Chaudhry Saad — General Secretary, PUWF
  • Mr. Geir T. Tonstol — ILO
  • Ms. Rabia Razzaque — Senior Programme Manager, ILO Pakistan

The consultation was highly constructive and engaging, with meaningful dialogue and diverse perspectives towards advancing safe, healthy, inclusive, climate-resilient, and decent workplaces across Pakistan.

Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important national policy process and to ensure that youth voices and climate realities are reflected in shaping Pakistan’s future occupational safety and health framework.
